Workshop Objectives:
Moodle is an open source, online Learning Management System which allows educators to create their own private website filled with dynamic courses that
extend learning, anytime, anywhere.
The course is primarily aimed at teachers who want to learn how to use the platform and its features, so as to enhance interactivity in the teaching experience.
The course comprises of five main parts:
- The importance and potential of the use of technology in classrooms
- Analysis of the needs of learners and teachers as well as their interaction
- Setting up a Moodle platform
- Learning how to create lessons and activities, how to assign roles,
how to enrol students, how to create groups, design exercises, etc. - Assessment and evaluation
PROGRAM
DAY 1:
Welcoming and course introduction; The importance of technology in the modern classroom. Understanding and listing the professional needs of participants; General introduction to Moodle; Setting up a Moodle platform (basic notions); Installing Moodle on a local computer; Understanding the Moodle learning environment; Customising the learning environment; Profile editing
DAY 2:
Creating users and assigning roles; Setting up your courses; Uploading course information; Enrolling students; Instructing students; Embedding widgets in your course and media usage; Creating course events and using the calendar.
DAY 3:
Managing private files; Setting up assignments; Creating group assignments; Grading and setting up your grade book; Uploading feedback files.
DAY 4:
Constructing glossaries; Using repositories; Surveys and choices; Backing up and restoring a course.
DAY 5:
Creating a discussion forum; Creating and managing a chat room; Setting up Blogs; Creating a Wiki; Tracking student progress; Rewarding students with badges; Getting student feedback; Revision and course feedback
